My experiences with Marshia Morton are varied and very positive. She has trained several horses for me, taught my wife and mother how to ride horses, and she taught me a ton about how to ride and understand barrel horses. I have bought and sold horses from and to her. Marshia has also trained several horses for other people I have referred to her. All these experiences have been very positive experiences.
Marshia took my 4yr. AAA racehorse (Winner) and started him on barrels for me. Not only has he won a lot of 1D and rodeo paychecks, he is also great for “pony rides.” It is invaluable to have a “highpowered” horse that is extremely safe! I credit Marshia and her method of training for most of that. I have always felt like I was treated fairly whenever I have had any dealings with Marshia and everyone I have referred to her has felt the same way.
Marshia and her family are fine Christian folks, and with Marshia you get 4 for 1 deal. Bud, Josh, and J.T, all take a keen interest in Marshia’s customers. Just remember, if you don’t want an honest answer, don’t ask! Because you will get a straight answer even if it means losing a customer. In other words if your horse can’t cut it, she’ll tell you before you spend months on training.
I guess my 5 year old son said it best when his little sister asked, “who is Marshia Morton?” He replied , “Karly , she’s only the world’s greatest horse trainer!” Needless to say, Conrad gets the most attention when we visit.

Honest, hard–working, sincere, and a whole heck of a lot of fun–––––that’s how I would describe Marshia Morton!!!! When I had first the pleasure of meeting Marshia, I knew as much about riding a horse as I do the theory of relativity, which is not a lot. Now I can saddle my horse by myself, ride him where I want with no arguments and enjoy an occasional trail ride with my husband when time allows. The only complaint I have about Marshia is that creating time to support my new horse habit has interrupted my already full schedule. In all seriousness, Marshia is an incredible teacher and an honored friend of humans and horses alike.
As I got to know Marshia even better I also became acquainted with some of her horses. The Mortons are the proud owners of a very handsome stud horse named Jessie Perscription. Jessie is incredible; he is gorgeous and also very patient as he was able to tolerate the antics of my 5 year old daughter. Marshia also introduced me to one of Jessie’s offspring, a sorrel mare named Codys Last Lady. I believe Marshia had planned all along for me to fall in love with this young “Lady”, well the plan worked. Lady is now enjoying a life of love and leisure at a new address––––mine!! So&I guess one could also call Marshia an equine “matchmaker.”
Think I’ve said enough? Well, I’m not finished singing Marshia’s praises just yet. Besides teaching me the basics of riding (an incredible feat in and of itself), and besides selling me a horse. She also successfully trained two horses for my family and smoothed out a few “rough edges” with my beloved gelding, Buzz. Because of Marshia’s hard work and dedication, our family owns horses we can be proud of and enjoy!
Thanks Marshia–we couldn’t be happier!

I have know Marshia since 1992 when I purchased my first prescription horse from her. It took no time at all for me to realize that we would be great lifetime friends. I have bought several other horses from her and been extremely happy with all of them. Marshia has trained horses for me in both pleasure and barrel racing, of which both had excellent results. We have won All Around several times. In her training, Marshia teaches calmness, which has also made my horses great for trail riding. I have also had horses bred to Jessie Perscription, which have produced wonderful foals. Marshia and her family have shown me what a good southern family is all about. I feel I am a better person for knowing them in many different ways.

As a professional in the horse business for over 30 years I can say what a positive experience it has been in selecting a horse from Morton Quarter Horses. It is a rare thing to find someone as honest as Marshia Morton. She excels in matching the right horse to the right home. Her horses are represented truthfully and priced fairly. I look forward to a long and productive relationship with Marshia as a friend and fellow professional.

Marshia, we appreciate the hospitality that you afforded us. We were able to pick up our horse, give him (and us) a little break in the long trip. We will certainly stop in again if we are ever up your way. Don’t hesitate to call us if ya’ll ever get down to the Gulf Coast area.

My husband and I purchased a horse from Marshia Morton and her son, J.T. at the 2005 Illinois Horse Fair. We like their straightforward way of talking and answering questions. We felt that Marshia wanted to sell us a horse only if the horse was a good fit for us. Her son, J.T. was also very helpful. He rode the horse for us to demonstrate the horse’s ability and patiently answered all our questions. But what we were most happy about was what we call the "after the sale care". Because we didn’t expect to buy a horse that weekend, I suffered from a good case of buyer’s remores. Marshia was wonderful. She addressed my concerns and spent a great deal of time with me. Some sellers are glad to have your money and then you don’t exist, not Marshia. She was as helpful, friendly and kind as she was before our purchase. Her offer to phone anytime with problems or concerns, shows she will go beyond the sale to help you be happy with your new horse. Of course, Marshia was right, the new horse is doing great and so are we.

Buying a horse from Marshia has been a great learning experience for both me and the rest of my family. From day one Marshia told me the horse I bought (Cricket) would be a great match for me. Well, from the looks of things she was very right. Marshia was very honest about my horse’s qualities (all of which are perfect) and was eager to help me after we pruchased the mare. I am very satisfied with my horse and her seller. I have and would recommend Marshia to anyone looking for a good horse. All and all I think choosing Marshia to buy a horse from, would be a great decision for anyone!!! Thank you Marshia for your time spent coaching and pushing me to do well with Cricket I could never thank you enough!!!!

I am excited about my new barrel horse Moon. I’ve always been real skeptical when it comes to buying finished horses from people that I haven’t known. I met Marshia and J.T. last month. I feel I have known them for years! I know I can always count on Marshia. I believe Marshia is all about everyone leaving for home HAPPY! Mortons are true horsemans and I think a friend for life. Thanks guys for everything!

After looking and searching the net for the right horse to fit myself and my family, I finally found Marshia. I was really unsure about traveling 8 hours one way to find out that the horse I saw in the picture was not what we expected. I spoke with Marshia several times on the phone and through emails. Finally, we decided to make the trip. Peppy was everything she said, this is one of the best horses we have had. Living in northern Iowa in the winter, we don’t get to ride much. The other day, my 13 year old daughter and one of her friends wanted to ride. The friend had not rode much at all, I was a little nervous putting her on a horse that had not been rode all winter. We got Peppy out and saddled her up and I climbed on her to make sure she would be fine for the friend. NO PROBLEM. She acted like she had been rode all winter. If anyone ever has any hesitation about making the trip please feel free to call me (515–571–2675) because I am probably one of the worst about making the wrong choices about horses. But I actually made the right choice this time and will definately make the trip again when I need another horse. Thanks for being honest Marshia and making it all worth it.

Dear Marshia, I am so pleased with the mare I bought from you. Rosita has surpassed all my expectations. Buying a horse unseen other then a picture is at best very scary. You made the transaction very easy, followed up every step of the way, and your prices are very fare. Rosita arrived across country in great shape, she is everything you said and more. She has become a member of our family. I will look forward to doing business with you again.

For my thirteenth birthday, my parents wanted to get me a western pleasure horse who would challenge me, but would not be beyond my ability as a rider. We didn’t know where to start, until we found the Morton Quarter Horses website, which had several promising horses on it. Marshia had us come down, and although there were four horses that might have worked for me, we all knew right away that Dreamer was the right horse for me. That first day we couldn’t even begin to guess how quickly Dreamer would settle in, or how easy and enjoyable it would be to work with her. Soon afterwards, mymom decided she was tired of "riding the arena rail"while I rode Dreamer. She wanted to get a dependable, steady trail horse that still had a lot of go and personality, but withe the "been there, done that" mentality. Once again, the Morton’s had the horse for us, Cisco, a twelve year old paint gelding. Cisco settled in just as quickly as Dreamer, and is just what my mom was looking for. We feel comfortable in any situation with these horses. Our horses have already seen and done alot in the 4 months e have had them. They have trailered to parks for trail rides, been shown sucessfully in local shows, and given "pony rides" to little kids. We couldn’t be more pleased with our horses. Marshia, you are the first person we would call if we are ever in the market for another horse or recommend to anyone looking for a great experience!

I don’t know who to say more good things about, Marshia Morton or the horse I bought from her! As a newcomer to the Sikeston area, and as a new horse owner too, Marshia really worked with me to make sure my experience was a positive one. As a result, I ended up with a fabulous horse that I completely trust. As a trail rider, it was important to me that I ended up with a calm, "been there, done that" kind of horse that would be well behaved on the trails and make me feel comfortable. I ended up with just that, and Robin is a wonderful horse who at 6–years old makes even the most seasoned trail horse seem a little green! On our first ride out went out alone, and Robin willingly left my property by herself, crossed water, and remained very calm as we came across kids on 4–wheelers, people riding a gator, wildlife, and a whole lot more. Robin makes trail riding a pleasure that I can look forward to and know I will enjoy. Plus, Marshia continually stayed in touch with me to help me in case I encountered any problems or had any questions. She also put me in touch with an excellent veterinarian and reputable farrier. From start to finish, Marshia really helped me and remained a friendly person I could turn to for help in any situation. You can rest assure that Marshia will make sure your experience is a positive one, and will be there for you and your horse to make sure it stays positive. I really appreciate Marshia’s williness to go the extra mile, and would highly recommend her to anyone considering one of her horses.
